NSUF 19-CINR-16380: High Fluence Active Irradiation and Combined Effects Testing of Sapphire Optical Fiber Distributed Temperature Sensors

The project will test and characterize distributed temperature measurements in sapphire optical fiber for high-temperature radiation environments. Separate effects testing of high fluence and combined effects testing of heated irradiations will characterize the sensing capability of clad sapphire optical fiber. The development of innovative measurement techniques will support the testing and development of advanced fuels and materials for the current reactor fleet and the design of advanced reactors.
