NSUF 22-4476: Probing the effect of specific chemical elements on the irradiation induced defects formation and evolution in high entropy alloys

In situ ion irradiations will be conducted on two families of high entropy alloys (the refractory series based on the ternary Mo-Nb-Ti system and the Fe-Cr-Ni system, to which specific elements are added respectively. The irradiations will be done in a very systematic way to follow the defect formation and evolution as a function of dose (all at room temperature) in each system. By comparing the irradiation induced defects evolution in situ to doses as high as 10 dpa in each composition we will be able to assess the role of chemical element in helping (or not) radiation resistance/behavior of the system.
