NSUF 19-1810: Microstructural characterization of in-situ ion irradiated SiC layer of TRISO fuel

The objective of this work is to get deeper understanding of the Ag and He ion transport in the unirradiated and irradiated TRISO particles for the following reasons: 1) to determine the potential transport path of Ag in SiC under irradiation, 2) the nature of the ion irradiated defects and their possible role in migration of Ag, 3) The effect of combined He + Ag ion irradiation versus only Ag implantation. This nanoscale chemical analysis in TEM will contribute towards the understanding of the Ag transport mechanism in SiC.
