NEUP CINR-17-12633: Integrated silicon/chalcogenide glass hybrid plasmonic sensor for monitoring of temperature in nuclear facilities

The photonic properties of silicon and phase changes in chalcogenide glasses caused by heating are used for temperature monitoring by photonic system for data collection. Additive technology for sensor fabrication facilitates its placement at specific positions. The phase transition in chalcogenide glass occurs with conductivity increase causing formation of a tightly confined plasmon mode at the interference between silicon and conductive material is a signature of the monitored temperature.
