NEUP CINR-17-12798: Nanostructured Ceramic Membranes for Enhanced Tritium Management

Low-temperature water adsorption properties of nanoscale structured ceramics, combined with demonstrated hydrogen isotope exchange in their hydrated layers provide a low cost and unique avenue to address the tritium management challenges. Development of this method will leverage the work conducted on ionic conducting ceramic membranes and materials for nuclear waste immobilization at Clemson University, the Savannah River National Laboratory, and the University of Sheffield in the UK.
