NEUP CINR-17-12886: Identifying, Predicting and Preventing Localized Corrosion in Kr-85 Storage Canisters

This proposed project comprises a consolidated effort to: (i) determine the root cause of corrosion within the Kr-85 storage canisters; and (ii) determine the resulting corrosion rates, building on expertise from project partners in the USA and United Kingdom (UK). The research effort will be led by the University of Virginia (UVA) with collaboration from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and the University of Birmingham (UoB) with funding from the UK EPSRC.
