NEUP CINR-18-15065: in situ High Temperature Measurement and Validation of Uranium Molten Salt Properties
This project proposes to use synchrotron-based x-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy to measure the local and intermediate structure as well as speciation of chloride fuel salts for fast-spectrum applications and fluoride fuel salts primarily for thermal spectrum applications. A modified quasi-chemical model of the thermodynamics of solutions model will use these results to predict immediately useful properties for compositions of interest.
