NEUP CINR-18-15280: Advanced Alloy Innovations for Structural Components of Molten Salt Reactors
The goal of the proposed research is to develop and evaluate advanced metallic alloy concepts for structural components in solid fuel and dissolved liquid fuel molten salt reactors (MSR). Studies will focus on fluoride salts. Ni-based alloys, BCC high entropy alloys (HEA), refractory Mo-Hf-C alloy, and a compositionally-graded alloy designed for high surface corrosion resistance and good bulk strength. Corrosion irradiation, embrittlement, and weldability tests will be performed.
