NEUP CINR-18-15596: Capture of Organic Iodides from Vessel Off-Gas Streams

The capture of radioactive organo iodides from off gas streams produced during nuclear fuel reprocessing will be studied. Adsorption experiments will be conducted with organo iodides ranging from methyl iodide to iodo-dodecane using a selected adsorbent from reduced Ag mordenite, Ag- aerogel and Ag-alumina. Multifaceted adsorption models will be developed to simulate iodine uptake by reduced-silver adsorbents in fixed bed adsorbers to design necessary capture systems for these off-gas streams.
