NEUP CINR-20-19374: Maintaining and building upon the Halden legacy of In-situ diagnostics
Our research team will develop innovative instrumentation focusing on temperature and strain measurements to fill the void left by Halden reactor and to enhance the experimental capabilities in Transient Reactor Test Facility (TREAT) located at Idaho National Laboratory. Our team will develop a fiber optic sensor system having a capability to measure temperature or strain. Fiber optic sensors offer an inherent resistance to electromagnetic interference unlike LVDTs under current use.
