NEUP CINR-20-19642: Improved Molten Salt Reactor Design with New Nuclear Data for the 35Cl(n,x) and 56Fe(n,n’) reactions.
We will measure all of the 35Cl(n,p), (n,alpha) and (n,gamma) cross sections using a CLYC scintillator as an active target and a NaCl activation sample. We will then evaluate the impact of these data, as well as 56Fe(n,inelastic) data we measured this year, on major performance parameters of Molten Chloride Fast and Sodium Rast reactors including a representative burner and a traveling wave design on reactor size, fuel attainable burnup, reactivity coefficients, and 36Cl production.
