NEUP CINR-20-20074: Characterization of Plenum to Plenum Natural Circulation flows in a High Temperature Gas Reactor (HTGR)
Experiments will be performed to obtain new data on the plenum to plenum natural circulation flows in a HTGR using helium and nitrogen over a wide range of temperatures and pressures up to 750oC/70 bar to simulate natural circulation under both PCC and DCC scenarios. Gas circulation rates, and velocity and temperature distributions in multiple parallel tubes in the riser and downcomer between the upper and lower plena will be measured using novel measurement methods.
