NEUP CINR-21-24354: Un-hackable Communications with Quantum Key Distribution for Secure Remote Operations
The goal of this project is to demonstrate quantum-based communications for secure remote operations of advanced nuclear systems. To achieve this, we propose to develop and demonstrate Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) on Purdue’s all digital University Reactor (PUR-1). QKD is a new revolutionary security technology that exploits the laws of quantum mechanics to achieve information-theoretical secure key exchange enabling secure communications.
