NEUP CINR-22-27288: Advancing NMA of TRISO-fueled pebbles using fast and accurate gamma-ray spectroscopy
In this proposal we will provide new Nuclear Materials Analysis (NMA) capabilities for TRISO-fueled pebbles using gamma-ray spectroscopy, through a program of simulations of expected signatures from irradiated pebbles, resulting in a detailed measurement plan to monitor burnup and actinide content throughout the fuel cycle. We will also use these simulations to develop requirements for NMA sensor technology and identify opportunities for focused technology development to meet these requirements.
