NEUP CINR-23-29603: Optical Sensors for Impurity Measurement in Liquid Metal-cooled Fast Reactors

The objective of this project is to investigate whether a unique combination of two versatile optical techniques – laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and two-photon absorption laser-induced fluorescence (TALIF) – could provide a sensitive, robust, and convenient method for in-situ, real-time detection of trace impurities (<5 ppm) in liquid Na coolant, with emphasis on unambiguous monitoring of O and H concentration.
