NEUP CINR-23-29826: Facile manufacturing of fiber-reinforced-SiC/SiC composite using aerodynamic fiber deposition (AFD) and metal assisted polymer impregnation and pyrolysis processes (MAPIP)
SiC/SiC ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) is a promising candidate material for the cladding of accident tolerant fuels. Superior material properties of SiC/SiC CMC, however, come at a high manufacturing cost. The objective of the proposed research is to apply aerodynamic fiber deposition (AFD) and metal assisted polymer impregnation and pyrolysis (MAPIP) to develop a new facile manufacturing approach of SiC/SiC CMC.
