NEUP CINR-25-34075: Relationship of Electrical, Thermal, and Mechanical Properties in Progressively Doped SiC via Chemical Vapor Deposited and Neutron Transmutation Doping
The hypothesis of this proposal is that doped SiC, either as-fabricated pre-irradiation or from nuclear transmutation doping (NTD), will transition to a higher thermal conductivity material with perhaps improved mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. If correct, the results from this study will be extremely important to in-core component structural materials and for SiC based cladding materials where an improved thermal conductivity is strongly desirable.
