NEUP CINR-25-34312: In situ ion irradiation mechanical testing to inform physics-based modeling of irradiation creep mechanisms in Grade 91

This project will study the impact of sequential vs. simultaneous irradiation and mechanical loading during in situ tensile and creep testing of F/M steels. These experiments will be combined with machine learning-enabled 3D TEM characterization, and supported by dislocation dynamics and crystal plasticity modeling, to establish the relationship between radiation, stress, microstructure, and mechanical properties crucial to predict performance for next generation nuclear reactor components.
