NEUP CINR-25-34511: Surface Complexation of Radionuclides on Mineral Surfaces at High Temperature
Adsorption models parameterized by adsorption constants are key to predicating radionuclide transport in barriers for a geological repository of high-level radioactive waste. The repository often experiences a much higher than ambient temperature, but available adsorption constants were determined at low temperature. We propose to measure high-temperature constants by conducting adsorption experiments, spectroscopic characterization, and surface complexation and reactive transport modeling.
