NEUP CINR-25-34595: Unraveling Laminar-Turbulent Transition in Rod Bundles

A comprehensive theory for laminar-turbulent transition in rod bundles does not currently exist. In this proposal, we seek to develop such a theory through combined experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches. As rod bundles are nearly ubiquitous in reactor concepts, we envision that this missing theory will be used to optimize fuel assembly designs for a broad range of reactors, including light-water and advanced reactors.
