NEUP CINR-25-34652: Advancing Neutron Scattering Techniques for the Development of Atomic-Scale Modeling of Nuclear Materials

Defect structures in nuclear materials affect physical properties, diffusion, and fission gas release. We propose using advanced neutron scattering at Oak Ridge National Laboratory to gain insight into these structures in oxidized UO2, enhancing models and methods in nuclear materials engineering for safer, more efficient power generation.
