NSUF 17-969: TEM investigation of radiation damage of ferrite in CF-3
CF-3 has been systematically studied under neutron irradiation on the ferrite phase decomposition. Previous results of atom probe has revealed the existence of spinodal decomposition and G phase precipitate. The quantification of spinodal decomposition was depicted in a statistical approach through atom probe reconstruction analysis. However, due to the limit of the spatial resolution and detection efficiency of atom probe, features of radiation damage such as dislocation loops and strain hardening effect were fully neglected. TEM study is proposed to resolve those details of the neutron irradiated CF-3. The outcome of the proposed study will help establish the overall understanding on the neutron irradiation damage and its microstructure impact. A broader range of phase decomposition characterization from micron scale to nano-scale also be constructed.
