NSUF 17-930: Characterization of ion irradiated 15-15Ti steel by APT

This work proposes APT analysis of self-ion irradiated 15-15Ti cladding steel for use in lead or lead bismuth cooled fast reactor applications. APT will contribute to the understanding of radiation induced precipitation or dissolution of TiC nanoprecipitates. These nanoprecipitates are beneficial for swelling and creep resistance, but their disappearance under irradiation limits achievable burn-up of the fuel. Understanding of the mechanism can lead to alloy improvement strategies.
