NSUF 19-1809: In-situ TEM Study of the Irradiation Response of Pre-deformed Alloy 709

The project aims to investigate the irradiation response of pre-deformed Alloy 709, by in-situ TEM observation of the irradiation process using the IVEM-Tandem facility. The pre-deformation is in the form of creep tests at different temperature/stress combinations, which promotes precipitation and dislocation structure differently. The gained knowledge will fill the blank in the research community on the irradiation study of pre-deformed Alloy 709, which is critical to understand the alloy's performance in real reactor environments, where there is always a combination of irradiation, heat and stress.
