NSUF 23-4751: Determining Mechanical Properties of the Phases Formed of Irradiated U-19Pu-10Zr
The objective of the proposed work is to measure the local mechanical properties of U-Pu-Zr fuel irradiated to 11 at. % burnup using in-situ PI88 Picoindeter system at INL. The collected mechanical property data will be correlated to the microstructure and the phases present in each constituent redistribution region. The microstructural characterization data has been previously collected and analyzed as part of NSUF project. This work will enhance the understanding of the elastic and plastic deformation behavior of U-Pu-Zr alloy and advance the development of fuel performance code for metallic fuels.
