NSUF 16-864: Low temperature Fe-ion irradiation of 15-15Ti steel in different thermo-mechanical states

This work proposes self-ion irradiation at 300 and 450°C on cold worked and aged 15-15Ti cladding steel for fast flux reactors up to high doses. This is relevant and necessary for lead or lead-bismuth cooled reactor concepts, which may operate at low temperatures. Particularly of interest is the possible radiation induced precipitation or dissolution of TiC nanoprecipitates, which are beneficial for swelling and creep resistance. Also of interest are radiation induced defects such as dislocation loops and voids.
